CATDOLL: Has Oda been to China? The author of One Piece confirmed that a scene was taken from Wenzhou

The comic "One Piece" has been serialized for more than 800 episodes so far, and Luffy and his friends have traveled to many places, which means they have traveled all over the world in reality. Many of the scenes in the comic are based on real life. I wonder if you have noticed that the scene on the cover of the 518th episode of "One Piece" looks familiar? That's right, this scene is taken from Wenzhou, China.

This year, a Wenzhou netizen Wu Guanhao wrote to Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, to ask the author whether the scene in the cover page of One Piece 518 was taken from the East Tower of Jiangxin Island in Wenzhou. And Oda actually replied to Wu Guanhao's question, saying that the scene was indeed taken from the East Tower of Jiangxin Island in Wenzhou. Wu Guanhao said: "I wrote this letter with a try-and-see attitude, but I didn't expect to get a reply from the author." One morning when he was browsing the One Piece forum, he found that in the author's answer to readers of the recently released Japanese version of One Piece manga volume 80, he saw the Chinese characters "China, Wenzhou City" and realized that this was the author's answer to him.

Oda responded to Wu Guanhao's request for confirmation like this: "Oh, it is undoubtedly this tower. Because it is the place where CP9 trains, and as a person who watched Kung Fu movies, I think the scenery in China is very beautiful, so I chose to draw there. I originally wanted to draw a place in a faraway country. I didn't expect that there would be OP(O readers there. I am so happy. Thank you for your letter."

It seems that this has once again confirmed that many scenes in the "One Piece" comics are based on reality, but netizens also have a question, that is, the author of "One Piece", Eiichiro Oda, is a well-known model worker in the industry. For the sake of comics, he often only sleeps 3 hours a day. So how did he get materials from these places? How did he know about Wenzhou Jiangxin Island? Has he ever been to Wenzhou, China? It's really curious.
