Where is the development path of Chinese animated films going? Recently, the "China Animation Film Development Report (2014)" was released in Hangzhou on the 27th. According to the report, in 2014, important indicators such as the number of screenings, box office and number of viewers of domestic animated films increased significantly, and "big animation, new ecology" has become a new trend in the development of Chinese animated films.

The report was compiled by Variety News and the China International Cartoon & Animation Festival Office. According to the report, in 2014, domestic animation film production companies and institutions completed and obtained public screening licenses for 43 films, of which 32 entered the urban cinema market, with a cumulative box office of more than 1.1 billion yuan, an increase of 67%, far exceeding the increase of other types of films. The total number of animation film screenings increased from 2.658 million in 2013 to 4.87 million, an increase of 45.4%; the total number of viewers reached 86.879 million, an increase of 43.8%.

Animated films continue to be favored by capital. Large professional film and television companies and Internet companies such as Tencent, Baidu, LeTV, Alibaba, and Youku Tudou have all entered the field of animated films. Many "e-commerce" companies have begun to participate in marketing, giving domestic animated films an "Internet" mark.

The report also pointed out that the development bottlenecks of my country's animation film industry are prominent, such as the small scale of animation companies, lack of talent, too narrow audience positioning, poor production, single animation IP development, and weak story and production. These "pain points" have also become the focus of the industry.
