CATDOLL: The latest live-action movie of "Mobile Police Patlabor" suffered a box office failure

Live-action movies adapted from animations will more or less encounter embarrassing situations, and there may be many reasons for this. The live-action version of the long-running theatrical version of the "Mobile Police Patlabor" series, "The Next Generation: Mobile Police Capital Battle", was released on May 1st, and more than 200 theaters in Japan screened the film.

However, according to Japanese media reports, despite being screened in so many theaters, the film only earned 36 million to 42 million yen in the first weekend of its release (May 2-3), with only 28,000 to 32,000 viewers. This is even lower than the third episode of the theatrical animation "Akito the Lost Nation", which was screened in only 30 theaters from May 2. ("Akito the Lost Nation" had a box office of 57 million to 66 million yen and a audience of 43,000 to 50,000.)
