On the eve of the May 4th Youth Day, a research institute of Fudan University released a survey titled "Post-90s College Students' Views on Idols". The survey randomly selected 1,708 Weibo college students from 2,246 Chinese universities covering different regions and different levels of education. The results showed that Han Han, Wang Sicong, Jack Ma, Hayao Miyazaki, and TFBOY were the top five public figures that post-90s college students paid the most attention to. Among these five public figures, the proportion of college students who gave positive comments on Hayao Miyazaki was as high as 89.2%, second only to Jack Ma's 90%. His animation works and quotations were called "heartwarming works" by many college students and were frequently forwarded. Researchers found that college students' positive evaluation of Hayao Miyazaki mainly stems from the warmth and positive energy contained in his animations. Moreover, very few college students view Japanese animations from a nationalist perspective, and are more concerned with the humanistic care conveyed by the works themselves. Although Hayao Miyazaki's animated films are rarely shown in mainland China, only "Castle in the Sky" and "My Neighbor Totoro" have been shown in China before. But this does not prevent college students from enjoying Hayao Miyazaki's animations in various forms such as the Internet and CDs, and regard Hayao Miyazaki's animations as "heartwarming works" and forward them on Weibo. |
