CATDOLL: To prevent terrorist attacks, American LGBTQ comic conventions prohibit Cosplayers from carrying weapons and props

Comic exhibitions are a place for comic fans to make friends. The main participants are cosplayers and anime friends. In addition to buying anime peripherals, another attraction is the various cosplayers at the comic exhibition. The gorgeous costumes, exquisite weapons and props of cosplayers attract our attention. If you are lucky, you can also see your favorite cosplayer at the exhibition! Although the cosplayers at comic exhibitions are beautiful, the various props in their hands have all taken a lot of time and effort to make, especially those gorgeous weapons and props, which are, to a certain extent, an important indicator for identifying cosplayers!

Recently, according to foreign media reports, Flame Con, an anime exhibition for the LGBTQ community in the United States, issued a notice that "people who will come to the event in August are prohibited from carrying any form of guns or weapons - even if the weapon props used for cosplay characters are just fake. The Flame Con organizing team said that this policy is not only symbolic, but also can attract more comic fans who are extremely cautious about weapons to participate."

This notice may be "fatal" for cosplayers at ordinary comic conventions, but it is indeed a very meaningful thing for the Orlando shooting that took place in a local gay bar and the LGBTQ comic convention held there.

Although the ban was announced, it does not mean that Flame Con itself is not completely against violence. It once held a discussion called "No More Mister Nice Gay: Uber Violence In Queer Storytelling". Joey Stern, president of Geeks Out, the organizer of Flame Con, pointed out that they are a group of people who enjoy various forms of entertainment, including violence. If you cannot accept this concept, you can choose to avoid it. However, some media pointed out that such a policy may change the taste of cosplay.

So what do you think about whether Cosplayers should bring props to comic conventions? If there are special areas like Orlando, would it be better to set up a "special area for Cosplayers who bring props"?
