CATDOLL: In This Corner of the World will be released in the fall of 2016

It was reported a long time ago that the film version of In This Corner of the World, a masterpiece by Fumiyo Kono, would be produced. However, due to funding issues, the film could not be promoted. Finally, the official adopted crowdfunding to finally raise the start-up funds and announced that the film would be officially released in the fall of 2016.

Recently, the production committee of In This Corner of the World was officially established. It was also officially announced that MAPPA will produce this animation. MAPPA was established in 2011 and has previously participated in the production of works including Apollo on the Slope, Space Brothers, and Space☆Dandy. In This Corner of the World will also be the first theatrical animation produced by the company. With Sunao Katabuchi as the director and scriptwriter, the final effect of the finished product is worth looking forward to.

"In This Corner of the World" is set in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture during the Pacific War. It tells the story of Sisi, the eldest daughter of a laver shop who married into the Hojo family, and vividly depicts the lives of people in that era. In 2009, it won the Excellence Award in the Manga Department of the "Cultural Affairs Agency and Art Agency Media Arts Festival". In 2011, a SP live-action Japanese drama version was launched to commemorate the end of the war.
