CATDOLL: When Japanese college students voted for the best cartoonists, they couldn't miss the author of Slam Dunk, Takehiko Inoue.

Recently, a Japanese media conducted a survey among college students: Who is the best cartoonist in your mind? After the results came out, Takehiko Inoue, the author of Slam Dunk, and Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, were both honored on the list.

Compared to illustrations, comics are more challenging for the author's painting skills. In addition to the character settings and the delicate background, the constantly changing pictures also need to include various tensions and storyboards, and the presentation methods need to be diversified. Many cartoonists are deeply loved by readers based on these factors. In this questionnaire survey of Japanese college students, the cartoonists on the list are indeed very capable and convincing.

Out of fairness and objectivity, this survey did not publish votes and rankings. After all, everyone has a different "best cartoonist" in their mind.

Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk)

Takehiko Inoue's comics are full of impressive passion and boldness. For example, in the famous work "Slam Dunk", the five protagonists of Xiangbei can sometimes make readers feel their state of mind without any text description. And this skill is even better in another work of Takehiko Inoue, "Rurouni Kenshin".

Regarding this, the college students interviewed said, "Slam Dunk portrays the characters' growth very well, and the sense of movement is full of tension," and "Although it is a comic on paper, it always makes people feel that the picture is moving."

Eiichiro Oda (representative work: One Piece)

Different from the mainstream Japanese comics which are extremely particular about details, even putting the cart before the horse, Oda's comic details make readers feel "very familiar". The atmosphere of each adventure is interpreted very well with strong expression. He can be said to be a very powerful cartoonist.

Obata Takeshi (Death Note)

The cartoonist whose style is completely opposite to Eiichiro Oda's is probably Obata Takeshi. His delicacy has been impressive since "Hikaru no Go", and the expressiveness of the characters is also very vivid on this basis. Even in "Death Note" and "Bakuman", the exaggerated images of the face-art king Light Yagami and Toru Nanamine are also portrayed with extremely delicate portrayals.

Urasawa Naoki (representative work "20th Century Boys")

As a veteran cartoonist, Naoki Urasawa has profound skills in both narrative and painting. His greatest feature, and the biggest difference between Urasawa and other cartoonists, is that in his comics, readers can easily distinguish between Japanese and foreigners...

Yusuke Murata (representative work: One Punch Man remake)

Although many people got to know Yusuke Murata from the remake of "One Punch Man", his comics were very bold as early as "Lightspeed Runner 21". When he wrote "One Punch Man", his style was very consistent with the original work. It was a very wise decision to let Murata remake "One Punch Man"!

Chika Umino (Honey and Clover)

In Chika Umino's works, she depicts the characters like a picture book full of fairy tale style, and the expressions make readers feel warm. Of course, in terms of psychological description, Chika Umino is also not inferior, and readers can easily immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the story.

CLAMP (Cardcaptor Sakura)

As a veteran comic group, their comics are very delicate, and this good tradition has continued to this day. In order to adapt to the current popular painting trends, CLAMP is also constantly improving its style, but the theme full of girlishness has not changed.

The cartoonists nominated by Japanese college students are indeed very outstanding, but many excellent cartoonists have failed to make the list, such as Hirohiko Araki and Akira Toriyama. In any case, classic works and cartoonists can arouse readers' resonance and become beautiful memories in the hearts of many people...
