CATDOLL: Ghibli adapts "Japan's oldest manga" with frog and rabbit showing affection

Studio Ghibli has released a new work! This time, the studio has produced Japan's national treasure - birds and animals playing. Although it is only 30 seconds, the protagonist's charm and sweet plot are no less impressive, and the lively music is equally touching.

This short animation is a collaboration between Marubeni New Electric Power Company and Ghibli. In Japan, the art of bird and animal play has a long history of more than 800 years. It is regarded as Japan's "oldest manga" by anthropomorphizing animals to express various interesting plots. The biggest purpose of the cooperation between the two companies this time is to preserve the original beautiful scenery of Japan for future generations. Therefore, this concept is conveyed through the traditional Japanese art of bird and animal play. Marubeni New Electric Power Company will also allocate part of the electricity fee for forest environmental protection activities.

Also worth noting is the music of this short animation, which was played by the world-renowned blind pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. The beautiful melody combined with the simple pictures gives the audience a peaceful and warm feeling.

The rabbit is hiding from the rain and adjusting its ears, which is very charming.

Suddenly a frog came and handed the rabbit a leaf that could protect it from the rain.

After completing the task, the handsome frog left alone

The rabbit tried to catch up with the frog, but he stumbled and almost fell.

The frog quickly ran back and hugged the rabbit. Both of them looked a little shy.

The ending is a sweet sharing of a leaf umbrella, and the little mouse witnessed everything

The scene where the frog handed the leaf umbrella to the rabbit easily reminded people of the scene in "My Neighbor Totoro" where Kanta handed the umbrella to Satsuki. Seeing this innocent interaction between a little boy and a little girl is very sweet. It seems that Ghibli really likes this romantic expression method...
