The story of Berserk takes place in the Middle Ages in Europe, where countries fought against each other for years. All countries raised huge armaments, mercenaries became a popular industry, and the lives of ordinary civilians were very poor. In this war-torn world, there are not only human wars, but also monsters called "Apostles". The protagonist of this story, Guts, became the master of the "Apostles" - the Hand of God because his best friend Griffith sold his soul to the devil. He sacrificed his former comrade-in-arms mercenary group "Eagle Group" to the "Apostles". Guts, who survived the massacre, turned into the "Black Swordsman" in order to avenge Griffith - a desperate swordsman who was cursed and had to resist the pursuit of the "Apostles".
