CATDOLL: The Japanese university light novel research course changes the textbook to "Bakemonogatari" as the new course

We have previously reported that Japan's Aichi University of Education uses popular light novels as textbooks for its courses. This course is still available this year, but the light novel "Sword Art Online" that has been used for two years is finally going to be replaced this year. The new textbook is also a very popular work nowadays - "Bakemonogatari". It seems that the instructor of this course is really keeping up with the trend.

This course is called "Lectures on Japanese Literature". The instructor is Masahiro Hirose, an associate professor at Nihon University and a lecturer at many universities. He uses this novel to understand the scientific methods of analyzing current Japanese literary works, including investigation, textual research, raising questions, and research and publication, which also shows that this is a very professional course. Masahiro Hirose has often talked about incorporating anime and light novels into his papers, and it has also achieved good results.

Before using "Bakemonogatari", the book used in this course was "Sword Art Online". Basically, the teaching content was similar, only the textbooks were changed. Judging from the fact that light novels have been taught in universities for several consecutive years, light novels have also been regarded by the academic community as a kind of reference literature, gradually getting rid of the impression of "subculture". In fact, judging from the sales of the works, the influence of light novels has long been unable to be ignored, and it is probably a trend that they will be used as textbooks.

Dengeki Bunko's "Sword Art Online" has sold over 16.7 million copies worldwide (data from 2014), and "Bakemonogatari" is also one of the late-night animation works that broke sales records. Both works have a great influence on modern otaku culture.

But after seeing the course introduction, everyone will start to fight for the course, right? I always feel that this course should be very popular. Although this is a class rather than a simple appreciation, if you can listen to the lecture with interest, you will gain a lot. And I guess the truancy rate of this course will be very low. Teacher, I also want to attend the class~~
