CATDOLL: DreamWorks Animation's "Kung Fu Panda 3" will be released on January 29, 2016

DreamWorks Animation's "Kung Fu Panda 3" will be released in North America on January 29, 2016. According to foreign media reports, Po (voiced by Jack Black) gets a girlfriend and even gets married in this episode, and the girlfriend is Mei Mei (voiced by Rebel Wilson). "Kung Fu Panda 3" recently adjusted its North American release date from March 27, 2016 to January 29, less than 10 days before the Chinese New Year. Earlier reports said that the film has been confirmed to be a Sino-US co-production, and will be specially produced in two versions, Chinese dubbing (the characters' mouth shapes are all in Chinese) and English dubbing, and the former will be released in China. According to the latest news, Po (voiced by Jack Black) in "Kung Fu Panda 3" will marry the female panda Mei Mei (voiced by Rebel Wilson).

Kung Fu Panda 3 is one of the most appealing series of DreamWorks Animation after the completion of Shrek the Monsters. It is particularly popular in the Chinese mainland market. The establishment and operation of Oriental DreamWorks into a Sino-US co-production is mainly based on the consideration of the Chinese market. Earlier, Time.com has revealed that the panda Po, voiced by Jack Black, will enter the marriage hall in the third episode. Recently, a foreign website broke the news that Po's partner is the female panda Mei Mei (transliteration of Mei Mei), voiced by the heroine Rebel Wilson of Pitch Perfect, instead of Yu Jiaohu (voiced by Angelina Jolie) as netizens joked before. And the male lead of the American TV series Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston, will voice Po's biological father, and Danish movie star Mads Mikkelsen will voice the villain "The Collector".

Kung Fu Panda 3 was originally scheduled for December 13, 2015 in North America, but was postponed to March 27, 2016 to avoid the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. After adding a new director and speeding up the production schedule, the release date was brought forward to January 29, 2016. Although the film's release date in mainland China has not yet been determined, January 29 is less than 10 days away from the Chinese New Year, so it is not impossible for Kung Fu Panda 3 to appear in China's most popular Spring Festival period as a co-production.

The first two episodes of Kung Fu Panda were released in 2008 and 2011, with global box office revenues of $631 million and $665 million respectively, which is not a very rapid growth. In China, however, the box office revenues of these two episodes were RMB 180 million and RMB 617 million respectively. Five years later, the number of screens in China is expected to increase threefold. Considering the box office success of Fast & Furious 7, it is foreseeable that the box office revenue of Kung Fu Panda 3 will also explode after its release in China. According to Empire magazine, perhaps because of its optimistic box office prospects, producer Melissa Cobb revealed that Kung Fu Panda 3 plans to develop three sequels to create a grand six-part series, and the next story will become dark and epic.
