CATDOLL: The author you would never expect to see is actually a woman.

The comics industry in Japan is very prosperous. Like all industries, there are many female cartoonists active in it. However, many Japanese female cartoonists use masculine names, and they do not choose female-oriented works in comics. Many of their styles are masculine. Usually readers will naturally think that the author is a male, until the female identity is revealed, everyone will always be very surprised. A Japanese website selected the "most surprising female cartoonists". The authors on the list are indeed surprising. Of course, "Niu Ma" will definitely be on the list.

10. Kindaichi Renjuro

Her representative work is "The Funny Life in the Tropical Rainforest". In addition to the name being very masculine and ancient, her ancestor is Takasugi Shinsaku, a patriot at the end of the Edo period. And it is really hard to imagine that such a nonsensical comic was written by a woman.

9. Daisuke Higuchi

Her representative work is "When the Whistle Blows", which is a very classic football-themed comic. In fact, from today's perspective, some of the developments in it still show that Ms. Higuchi is a female cartoonist.

8. Ieiro Tanabe

Her pen name is very masculine. Her representative work is "Kekkaishi". Her face was hardly shown originally until the Shogakukan Comics Awards. Her self-portrait penguin was to remind herself of the comic characters she originally wrote.

7. Yamamoto Kōki

His representative work is "The Natural Doctor". This comic is somewhat different from other medical works. It not only describes surgery and medical skills, but also talks about hospital management issues, such as medical collapse, etc. This kind of work leaves a very hardcore impression.

6. Shimazaki

His representative works include "Superstar" and "Lion Girl". The style of this one is more feminine, but the pen name makes people think that the author is a male.

5. Hikaru Nakamura

Her representative works include "Saint Young Men" and "Arakawa Under the Hood". "Arakawa Under the Hood" is very masculine in terms of both subject matter and style. Speaking of which, Nakamura Hikaru is also a famous female manga artist, which should be known to many people.

4. Mitsuro Kubo

Her representative works include "Again!! Start Over Again" and "Momoka Osaka". Many of her works have been adapted into live-action versions. Friends who love watching Japanese dramas should be quite familiar with her works.

3. Oshima Tsukasa

Her representative work is "Football Storm". After checking relevant information, I found that Koji Seo once served as her assistant.

2. Hiromu Arakawa

The famous Niu Ma, whose representative works include "Fullmetal Alchemist" and "Silver Spoon". Niu Ma's works are very good, and they are quite profound in portraying human nature. "Fullmetal Alchemist" has always been regarded as a classic in the comics industry.

1. Sato Fumiya

The most surprising cartoonist is Sato Fumuya, who received 29.2% of the votes. I guess it has something to do with the subject matter of the cartoon. There are many scary scenes in "The Kindaichi Incident Book". It is really shocking to know that Sato Fumuya is a woman. Sato's painting style is also quite unique.
