The theatrical version will be written by the original author of the manga, Momoko Sakura (real name Miki Miura), and directed by Jun Takagi, the animation director of "Chibi Maruko-chan". The story starts from Shimizu City, the first trip to Osaka and Kyoto in the history of the work. In the new theatrical version, children from six countries including the United Kingdom, China, and the United States will visit Shimizu City, the hometown of Chibi Maruko-chan, and Maruko will travel to Tokyo and Osaka with them. Among them, a little boy from Italy fell in love with Maruko-chan and confessed his love to her.

As one of the most famous animation characters in the world and one of the national animations in Japan, Chibi Maruko-chan has been very popular since the comics were serialized in 1986. After the animation in 1990, the first theatrical version "Chibi Maruko-chan The Movie: Years of Friendship" was released in the same year, and the second theatrical version "My Favorite Song" was released in 1992.
