"Slam Dunk" is a classic among classic sports comics. Many people fell in love with basketball because of it. The famous lines in the comics are still deeply rooted in the hearts of fans, inspiring everyone to move forward all the time. In fact, the original author of "Slam Dunk", Mr. Takehiko Inoue, has also continued to contribute silently to the Japanese basketball world in recent years, and hopes to cultivate future basketball stars through his own efforts.

Looking back, in order to commemorate the sales of the "Slam Dunk" manga volume reaching 100 million copies, the original author Inoue Takehiko Inoue, Shueisha, the Japan Basketball Association and other organizations jointly established the "Slam Dunk Scholarship" in 2006. The purpose is to send young Japanese players who are as capable as the original and are not afraid of challenges to the United States for more comprehensive training, so as to improve the new forces of Japanese basketball. The scholarship covers various expenses such as tuition and living expenses, so that young players who go to the United States for training can realize their dreams without worrying about the financial burden.

Due to the large number of new players in the basketball world, only one player can receive this honor each year. This year, the "Slam Dunk Scholarship" has entered its tenth year. After a rigorous selection process, the player who won this award is Taima Kagetomi from Ohori High School affiliated to Fukuoka University. After completing the formalities, he will go to the United States in April next year to participate in further field training.
