Goo ranking, a Japanese website that makes rankings for fun, recently released a survey of 250 male and female readers. The theme of the survey was the common kingly settings in boys' comics. Just as the male protagonists in martial arts novels often fall off a cliff and then learn powerful martial arts, boys' comics represented by Weekly Shonen Jump also have some overused settings:
