On April 6, animation artist and cartoon director Ma Xuan died of illness at the 455th Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Shanghai at the age of 76.

The animation works that Ma Xuan participated in creating include "Journey to the West", "Mountain and Water Love", "Three Monks", "The Tadpole Looking for His Mother", "Shepherd's Flute", "Nezha Conquers the Dragon King", etc., which have left many valuable treasures for the development of China's animation film industry.

Director Ma Xuan was a director of Shanghai Fine Arts Film Studio and has won the Golden Rooster Award and the Film Government Award for many times. He participated in the production of the classic animated feature film "Havoc in Heaven", as well as classic domestic animated films such as "Little Tadpole Looking for Mom", "Shepherd's Flute", "Nezha Conquers the Dragon King", "Three Monks", "Little Rabbit Fifi", "Mountain and Water Love", and "12 Mosquitoes and Five People".

In 2006, the film was selected as one of the 100 Century Animation Works in the World by the Annecy International Animation Film Festival's special project "Century of Animation·100 Representative Works".
