CATDOLL: A Japanese otaku who campaigned using comics and became obsessed with LL was successfully elected as a member of parliament
Even though they are all given the not-so-glorious title of "otaku", some can become "tech otaku", some are "rich otaku", and some are well-informed and knowledgeable, which makes people like me who have no money, no skills, and no knowledge, but still shamelessly call ourselves "otaku" burst into tears... Recently, there appeared another otaku in Japan who successfully used comics to promote himself and was finally elected as a member of parliament and dedicated to promoting the two-dimensional culture. Well, after reading this report, do you still have the nerve to say that you are an otaku?

In the just concluded Ota Ward Council election in Japan, a pure otaku named Ogino Minoru was successfully elected as a council member. Ogino Minoru is 29 years old and graduated from AMUSEMENT MEDIA Comprehensive College. He previously participated in the comic club and published a doujinshi about the character Fujiwara no Moko from the "Touhou Project". In addition, he also made his own contribution to the "Tokyo Youth Health Ordinance Revision Issue" that attracted national attention in 2010.

In order to explain his political stance in the simplest form, Ogino also drew comics and distributed them as single pages. He was also helped by cartoonist Seiji Matsuyama and Takeshi Nogami, who was the original character designer for the anime Shirobako's play-within-a-play, The Third Flying Girls. It can be said that he put a lot of effort into this.

By effectively utilizing the power of comics, he successfully won the hearts of voters. And based on his own interests, he proposed "We want to make the international city of Ota a place where Japanese culture flourishes. We want to support the development of cosplay, sales meetings, and exchange activities."

Through his speech, it feels like the otaku generation has begun to shoulder the responsibilities of the times. Although there have been council members who participated in doujinshi sales meetings and council members who understand otaku culture, it is still a very rare case that a person who participated in the creation of otaku culture was elected.

It is also worth noting that this person is proud to be a "LL believer" on Twitter, which also attracted attention.
