——Miura has not only read the original manga, but also watched the entire TV animation.

Miura: I watched the TV animation several times as a reference for my acting. I just wanted to watch "some of the plots that can be used as a reference..." at first, but I didn't expect it to be so interesting that I kept watching it.

Kaji: As one of the actors, I am so happy to hear you say that! I also watched the live-action version, and when I saw the powerful giants appear, I felt the unique shock of the live-action version. It must have been very hard for you to shoot?

Miura: The most difficult part was the dust. During the filming, we used a giant fan-like thing to blow up small bubbles and sand. This was how we created the dust. The sand hit our faces.

——Kaji, is it hard to voice over animation?

Kaji: The most difficult thing for me when dubbing for TV anime is the sore throat. When recording TV anime, one episode usually takes 3 to 5 hours, and Eren has a lot of scenes where he shouts and screams, so it puts a lot of strain on my vocal cords, which once again made me realize the importance of protecting my throat.

Miura: Why do you want to be a voice actor?

Kaji: When I was in elementary school, I really liked to "work hard for my future dreams," but my dreams changed every two or three days (laughs). Later, I heard that "as long as you work hard, you can turn anything you encounter into your own strength," so I started working hard to become a voice actor.

Miura: All the efforts I make can be transformed into strength. That's amazing.

Mikasa Ackerman: Live-action x Animation

——What are your thoughts after watching the animated theatrical version and the live-action movie version?

Ishikawa: Although the names of characters such as Mikasa and Eren are the same as in the original work, the live-action movie version brings a story with its own characteristics. In addition, there are many plots that appeared in the TV animation version, so for viewers who have read the original manga and the TV animation version, they can relive them again.

Mizuhara: Thank you (laughs). I watched the TV anime version before the actual filming. How will this be adapted into a live-action version? I felt very uneasy (laughs).

——I heard that when filming the live-action movie version, Ishikawa also sent encouragement to Mizuhara as Mikasa.

Mizuhara: I saw it!

Ishikawa: Did you see it? (Laughs) The person I worked with in another work happened to be friends with Ishihara Satomi, who played Hanji in the live-action movie. Since Ishihara Satomi played Hanji in the live-action movie, I wanted to say something to Mizuhara, who played Mikasa, based on this connection...

——What is your impression of Mikasa in the anime version?

Mizuhara: Mikasa doesn’t talk much, and most of the time she only uses one sentence to express her thoughts, which was quite difficult to act out.

Ishikawa: Mikasa doesn't have many emotional ups and downs, but she has a lot of emotions in her heart.

Mizuhara: In the live-action movie version, Mikasa has different responsibilities. However, we made a lot of efforts to express the suspenseful atmosphere of the original work.
