CATDOLL: Comic piracy continues to ferment, Japanese media complains that Chinese people are "pirate kings"

Not long ago, the Japanese police arrested three Chinese who uploaded pirated images of the "One Piece" comics. This news caused a lot of discussion in Japan. Although the suspects have been arrested by the police, the aftermath of the incident is still continuing. Now there is even a Japanese media report titled "Chinese are the Pirate King", because "pirate" in Japanese means "pirate", which is really a double entendre...

According to the Kyoto police, three Chinese and one Japanese who uploaded the source image of "One Piece" to the Internet before it was officially released have been arrested. Many anime fans praised the police's actions and hoped that they could continue to crack down on piracy in this way. Leaking the work before it is officially released is generally called spoiler. Although it allows fans to see the work in advance, it will also lead to a decrease in magazine sales, so it is undoubtedly an illegal act.

The Japanese arrested this time was a member of the transportation company. He took out the "JUMP" shipped from the printing factory without authorization and gave it to the Chinese who was responsible for uploading it. However, regarding this incident, the suspect named Hidaka denied his crime and only said that "I only provided the magazine to the other party." However, many Japanese anime fans think "I don't want this kind of piracy", "I am finally arrested, it's a relief", "For the future of Japanese comics, please keep working hard for the police."

In addition, since piracy is written as “海贼” in Japanese, many people mocked, “Why are Chinese always involved in piracy?”, “Chinese are the Pirate King”, “I guessed that Chinese people are involved just by looking at the title.” In addition, some people pointed out that South Korea had also printed and sold some fan works on pixiv without authorization, and such behavior had also caused many disputes.

Regarding the piracy storm of "One Piece", Shueisha issued a statement saying: "This is a very big progress. The mission of our publishing house is to present the works that the authors have poured their heart and soul into to readers in a legitimate form, so we will continue to deal severely with piracy in the future." And considering that this incident is just the tip of the iceberg, whether the relevant parties will further increase their crackdown efforts in the future is also a focus worthy of our attention.
