The new January anime "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World" is currently on the air. Just after the fourth episode was broadcast, a careful viewer discovered a small easter egg in the staff list at the end - the staff member responsible for the storyboard is "Alan Moshi", and if it is read in Romanization, it is the mysterious invisible man "Alan Smithee".
"Alan Smithee" is a mangled version of "The Alias Men", usually appearing as a replacement on various credits, but is now rarely used. In the fourth episode of "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World", the mysterious "Aramashi" turns out to be the director Takayuki Inagaki, who is good at comedy animation! Although he is anonymous on the staff list, director Takaomi Kanezaki betrayed him and told everyone the secret of "Aramashi" directly on Twitter.
Why did Inagaki Takayuki use a pseudonym? The reason is that he had worked on the storyboards for the animations My Brain Is Full of Love and Aria of the Holy Swordsman, but the results did not seem to be satisfactory. In order to avoid suspicion, he was smart enough to hide his identity this time. However, after the director posted on Twitter, Inagaki Takayuki himself did not seem to care much and admitted to using a pseudonym on Twitter.
Long before the show started, some sharp-eyed viewers had spotted the mysterious "Alan Inkstone". It's always unsettling to see invisible people among the staff of a work, but the reviews of this animation so far are pretty good, so it seems we can rest assured a little?
