CATDOLL: Chinese animation "The Return of the Great Sage" won the 2016 Tokyo Overseas Animation Excellence Award

We have previously reported that the Chinese animated film "The Monkey King: Hero is Back" will be released in Japan in the spring of 2017, which has also attracted the attention of fans. Moreover, "The Monkey King: Hero is Back" also participated in the 2016 Tokyo Animation Awards and won the Overseas Feature Animation Excellence Award! According to reports, in the final list of winners announced yesterday (March 22), "The Monkey King: Hero is Back" won the Excellence Award, while the Grand Prize was won by "Tout en haut du monde", a co-production of France and Denmark.

The Tokyo Anime Award's competition units, the feature animation and short animation departments, provide an opportunity for animations from regions and countries outside of Japan to be showcased in Japan. The feature animation department nominates four works from 24 overseas submissions into the finals. Finally, the Tokyo Anime Award's review committee selects one Grand Prize and one Excellence Award from the four works.
