Tonight (April 28), NBC Universal, a subsidiary of American cable giant Comcast, announced that it would acquire DreamWorks Animation. According to the acquisition agreement, NBC Universal will acquire DreamWorks for $41 per share in cash, with a total transaction value of approximately $3.8 billion. Both parties expect the transaction to be completed by the end of 2016, provided that it is approved by global antitrust authorities. It is reported that after the transaction is completed, DreamWorks will be integrated into Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO and co-founder of DreamWorks, will serve as chairman of DreamWorks New Media (consisting of DreamWorks' multi-platform media and entertainment company AwesomenessTV shares and DreamWorks subsidiary NOVA), and concurrently serve as an advisor to NBC Universal. |
