CATDOLL: A revolution in the painting world: Japan has developed a magical technique to turn sketches into line drawings

In this era of booming computer graphics, many artists are still accustomed to using paper and pen to draw and then scanning them into the computer. However, dealing with dirt and extra pencil marks on the draft is a very troublesome task, which always makes artists very distressed.

Now artists can finally say goodbye to the complicated process! Waseda University in Japan recently developed a magical technology that can turn rough drafts into beautiful line drawings, which amazed many artists.

This amazing skill was created by Edgar Simo-Serra and Satoshi Iizuka, who study imaging engineering at Waseda University in Japan. They recently published a research paper titled "Automatic Conversion of Drafts into Line Drawings," and you can get a glimpse of this from the title.

The details can be handled perfectly

The following are several successful examples of converting rough drafts into line drawings. They really look good -

Result: Yukata Girl

Result: Festival Girl

Result: Mask and Book

Once this technology matures, artists can easily convert any rough sketches they draw into computer line drawings, without having to scan them into the computer for re-tracing! In addition, the generated line drawings can completely remove pencil dirt and fully retain the touch of hand-painted lines.

Unfortunately, this technology still has room for improvement, and the software cannot be released for the time being. I hope that one day in the future, the results of this revolution in the painting world can benefit everyone. I believe that many painters will rush to buy it by then...
