CATDOLL: Japanese illustrator explains the mystery of "Xiaolan's hairstyle" in "Detective Conan"

Speaking of the unsolved mysteries in "Detective Conan", apart from the mysteries in the plot, there is another thing that people care about: "Ran's hairstyle". In other words, how did the pointed horns on her head come from? There are countless rumors about this on the Internet, and netizens have even made various memes out of it.

Although the work has been serialized for several years, the author still has not directly responded to what this horn is. However, recently an artist on Twitter used a diagram to explain the mystery of Xiaolan's hairstyle. Where did that horn come from? ?

Topic Twitter:

Although it’s been a while (I’m only mentioning it now), this is probably what the pointed corners of Xiaolan’s hairstyle are about, right?

The hairstyle is most likely from Shizuka Kudo

Although some people have expressed that "the part where the hair is wrapped around the ears is also quite concerning", I think this is probably based on the performance of Shizuka Kudo who pulled part of her hair back.

Conan started serialization in 1994, when I was 8 years old. At that time, there were still some popular elements of the bubble era, such as Kudo Shizuka's hairstyle... Although I still don't understand it clearly after reading the first volume, I think it's probably like this.

Depending on the angle of the face, it is actually quite troublesome to reproduce the hairstyle each time. Mr. Aoyama may have simplified the hairstyle by using a symbolic protrusion in order to simplify the drawing process... When this drawing method was finalized, the animated version was released, so there were horns from the first episode of the animation.

I made a simple diagram to understand the distribution of hair in the forward direction. In the early stage, you can still see the flow of the hair. After a while, I simplified the hairstyle by using symbolic protrusions.

(After entering the anime version, I really can't tell how the hair is combed...)

Xiaolan is a karate master and the winner of the Kanto Tournament. At the beginning, she was the role of the shrunken Shinichi to suppress the criminals. In the early days, there were many scenes of destroying telephone poles and kicking open doors. Compared with now, she is more active in love. Maybe the hairstyle is also intended to show that she is a strong woman.

Anyway....it turns out that Xiaolan's hairstyle is the "final version" of Kudo Shizuka....what a convincing statement XD
