The previously announced new animation of FLCL finally released some details at the Anime Expo. The official announced that Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the character designer of the previous animation, and the music producer the pillows band will be responsible for the new animation character design and music respectively. The sequel is produced by the American TV animation column Toonami and Production IG, with Katsuyuki Motohiro as the general supervisor and Kazuya Tsurumaki as the director. A new character, an ordinary girl Hitomi, appears in the new animation. This girl has been living an ordinary daily life until one day a teacher named Haruko comes to her school. Soon Medical Mechanica starts to attack the city where Hitomi is. Hitomi unexpectedly discovers that she has a secret ability to save everyone, and it is Haruko who can activate her ability.
