Gen Urobuchi specifically explained: "The script of "ALDNOAH.ZERO" was conceived and created before the broadcast of the "Fate/Zero" animation. Initially, I wanted to make this work feel like a robot Taiga drama, and wanted this work to have a sense of the times and a profound background, but at that time, the broadcast of "Gundam AGE" had already taken the lead in achieving the robot animation I envisioned. In fact, I wanted to give the Taiga drama that spanned three generations a large background on Mars, plus a traditional plot setting. In short, I wanted to make a Gundam animation, but it is very difficult to create this feeling. Now I think that if I follow the traditional plot, the work will become very classic. After the animation was actually broadcast, it did not follow the original traditional route."

When faced with the question "What do you think of Gundam in your mind?", Gen Urobuchi said: "If I sit there and think about what Gundam is every day, then the vicious cycle will continue forever. So I jumped out of the creative environment of AZ and watched an American TV series "The Pacific" based on World War II. After watching it, I felt that this TV series was Gundam! Starting from the perspective of a soldier's memoir, it tells the story of the protagonist and his companions fighting desperately on the front battlefield, but their comrades died on the battlefield one after another. At this moment, I finally figured out the most critical issue of the positioning of Gundam animation in my mind. Gundam does not mean that heroes are useless. Gundam focuses on the body itself. If you want to create a youth group portrait drama that uses robots to fight in war, the premise is to create a war. Only with feeling can the characters unfold a magnificent life in the war, and the fate of the characters can be fickle. In the Gundam animation series, Gundam itself is a cheating robot. At least the performance of Gundam can completely beat Zaku, but Amuro, the super pilot who sat on this cheating robot, could not protect his most beloved woman and could not find a way out for his own destiny.
