The official website of the TV animation of the same name adapted from the Rakugo-themed manga "Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" created by Haruko Kumota was launched on January 9, and the main visual image was released.

The news of the animation of this work was announced in the 23rd issue of ITAN, a magazine under Kodansha, and the main visual image was released at the same time. Tomokazu Seki, who voiced the protagonist Yotaro, also sent an audio message. Today, the official Twitter of the animation (@rakugoshinju) was also launched. Previously, this site has reported that the main cast of this work, Yotaro, who was attracted by the rakugo of Yakumo and became Yakumo's apprentice, will be voiced by Tomokazu Seki. The voice of the eighth generation of the lonely rakugo master Yurakutei Yakumo, who is known as the "last celebrity of the Showa era", will be voiced by Akira Ishida. In addition, Yu Kobayashi will voice the female character in this work, Koharu, who was raised by Yakumo.

"Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" is a manga serialized in the new fantasy manga magazine "ITAN" for women. Six volumes of the single volume have been released so far. This work won the second place in the women's section of "This Manga is Great! 2012", and was also awarded the 38th Kodansha Manga Award (General Division) and the 17th Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival Manga Division Excellence Award.
