CATDOLL: The director of "Shinko and the Millennium Magic" launched a crowdfunding campaign for his new film "In This Corner of the World"

"In This Corner of the World" (Chinese version title: Thank you for finding me in this corner of the world) written by Fumiyo Kono is set in Hiroshima during World War II and describes the daily life of a family. "In This Corner of the World" was decided to be adapted into a theatrical animation four years ago, and public fundraising began on March 9. It is planned to raise 20 million yen as film funds within 80 days.

In This Corner of the World manga by Fumiyo Kono

"This Corner of the World" won the Excellence Award in the Manga Department of the Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival in 2009. It was adapted into a live-action version in 2011 to commemorate the end of the war, starring Kitagawa Keiko.

The story is set in Hiroshima during World War II. Suzu, who is good at painting, married into the Hojo family in Kure City in 1944 when she was 18 years old. As a housewife, Suzu had to take care of her family every day despite the lack of supplies. As the war continued, Kure City became a Japanese naval base and was constantly attacked by air raids. The scenery she saw every day was full of warships and towns in flames. Even so, Suzu still tried hard to survive. Finally, the summer of 1945 arrived...

The script and storyboard for the movie have been completed. The donations will be used as the cost of the staff and the film. Since it is a support, it cannot be returned even if the production is terminated in the end.

Director and screenplay: Katabuchi Sunao (Shinko and the Thousand Years of Magic, BLACK LAGOON)

Production company: MAPPA (Apollo on the Slope, Tokyo Rhythm [or Horror Rhythm])

Fundraising progress around 17:00 on March 9

"A Corner of This World" is not a war education work, and it does not contain any preaching or anti-war content. It simply depicts the daily life of a family in the war. Therefore, every day seems to be an important day. In order to complete this film, director Sunao Katabuchi personally went to Hiroshima for an investigation. I hope this film can be completed smoothly.
