CATDOLL: Is the fight against piracy too successful? Japan deleted 710,000 pirated anime in half a year

The "Manga-Anime Pirate Countermeasures Council" was held today to study the fight against pirated anime and manga. At this meeting, the "Manga-Anime Guardians (MAG) Project", a program dedicated to countering pirated anime, announced that more than 710,000 pieces of pirated anime content had been deleted from the Internet in the six months from August last year to now.

"MAG" is a plan of the "Comic and Anime Pirate Countermeasures Consultation Council" created by publishers, animation-related companies and other organizations that agree with the countermeasures against pirated anime proposed by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan. Participants in the meeting included Kazuhiko Torishima, the managing director of Shueisha, and Koichiro Natsume, the chairman of Aniplex. Torishima said at the meeting that "some websites were even directly destroyed by deleting (pirated anime content)". Natsume also said that "the concerted efforts of various companies to delete content have a great influence."

In addition, Natsume also summarized the current situation. He said, "At present, Japanese animation will be uploaded to the Internet about an hour after it is broadcast, and overseas fans can watch it. I hope that overseas fans can see it as soon as possible. I want to promote regular world-synchronized dubbing. Although it is difficult to make animation, it will be even more difficult to add subtitles, but I still want to do it."
