CATDOLL: Higashimura Akiko's manga "Write and Draw" won the 2015 Japanese Manga Award

The Japanese Manga Awards aims to win the "Naoki Prize" in the comics industry. It has been held every March since 2008. This year's 2015 Manga Awards is the 8th. Today, the final results of the 2015 Manga Awards were finally announced. The autobiographical manga "Writing and Drawing" by manga artist Akiko Higashimura defeated popular manga such as "Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun" and "A Silent Voice" to become the first place this year.

The judges of the "Manga Grand Prix" award are the comics responsible persons of each bookstore, and the cartoonists, editors, and painters who are directly related to comics are excluded. Therefore, it is more objective and fair, and it is completely based on the readers' perspective. However, the comics selected for this award are generally rarely heard of in China. There are two selections for this award. The first time is to select the shortlisted works, and the second time is to vote on the shortlisted works. The grand prize is finally selected based on the number of votes. In the end, Higashimura Akiko's "Writing and Drawing" became the winner of this year's Manga Grand Prix with a large advantage of 80 votes, while the extremely popular Nozaki-kun and The Magician's Bride only took the third and fourth from the bottom.

The manga "Write and Draw" tells the story of a high school girl named Akiko Hayashi who aims to get into an art university and the spartan teacher in the painting class, Shinzo Hidaka. The story begins with their meeting, Akiko's admission to the art university, her graduation, her job, and finally her becoming a cartoonist. The manga has been completed and the final volume will be released tomorrow (March 25).
