CATDOLL: The severe decline in sales of "JUMP" in the first season may be related to the end of "Naruto"

Shueisha recently released the sales of its comic magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump" in the first quarter of 2015. According to the official data, the sales of "Weekly Shonen Jump" from January to March 2015 were 2,422,500 copies, which seems to be quite a lot. However, compared with the cumulative sales of "Weekly Shonen Jump" from October to December 2014, which was 2,605,000 copies, it is still a big drop, a drop of 180,000 copies. Some netizens analyzed that the decline in sales should be related to the "Naruto" comics.

Regarding the decline in JUMP sales, some Japanese netizens commented: "Has the real Naruto crisis arrived?" "The gap left by the end of Naruto is really huge, it seems that this is really a great signature comic", "Yoshihiro Togashi's crazy fans will say: As expected, my Great Hunter is indispensable", "The number is beyond imagination, it seems that many people have graduated from JUMP with the end of Naruto".

At the same time, Shueisha also disclosed the sales of its other magazines in the first quarter. Among them, the sales of Weekly Shonen Magazine dropped by 36,208 copies compared with the fourth quarter of last year, and only sold 1,156,059 copies. This also makes people suspect that by the end of this year, the sales of magazines will fall below 1 million copies. And Weekly Shonen Sunday, which has long been on the verge of collapse because of the pillars of the magazine fighting Kancolle, has fallen to 393,417 copies in the first quarter of this year, becoming the first unfortunate one among the three major shōnen weeklies to fall below the 400,000 mark. Is this the beginning of the decline of Japanese shōnen manga magazines?
