CATDOLL: 3.6 million per episode! Japan's most expensive crowdfunded animation "Under The Dog" will be broadcast in 2016

I wonder if you still remember the news that the animation "Under The Dog" would launch online crowdfunding in August last year. At that time, the producer claimed that it would take 580,000 US dollars to produce one episode of animation (24 minutes), which is equivalent to about 3.6 million RMB to produce one 24-minute episode of animation! If more funds are raised, a 90-120-minute feature-length animation will be produced (requiring 5.1 million US dollars). As a result, on September 8, 2014, Japan time, the original animation "Under The Dog" announced that the online fundraising activity was officially over, and finally raised a total of 878,028 US dollars in production funds, not only successfully achieving the original goal of 580,000 US dollars, but also setting the world's first record for online fundraising. Afterwards, the official released a promotional video to celebrate the success of the animation crowdfunding.

Today, animation studio Kinema Citrus officially announced that Under The Dog, the world's most funded animation online, will be completed in the spring of 2016. The production team said that they can complete the visual production of the storyline this summer and the dubbing in the winter. Kinema Citrus plans to release the trailer for Under The Dog in the summer of 2016. If everything goes as planned, they will also release some high-resolution storyboards, provided that the final version has been completed. However, it is not clear how the original animation Under The Dog will meet everyone.

"Under The Dog" is an original SF action thriller animation set in Tokyo in 2025. The production team has gathered many well-known names in the industry, including Ishiiji Rou, who produced "428 Shibuya Blockade" and "Time Traveler", Kozaki Yuusuke, who participated in "Fire Emblem Awakening" and "Puzzle & Dragons", Yura Hiroaki, who was responsible for "The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya", and Ando Shinyu, who worked on "Hanasaku Iroha" and "Zeuen no Tempest". It is definitely a super luxurious production lineup.
