CATDOLL: A joint project between "Oregairu" and the baseball team has begun, but the otakus are not buying it

CATDOLL: A joint project between "Oregairu" and the baseball team has begun, but the otakus are not buying it

On Thursday, June 11, the April new anime "My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong As I Expected" will officially debut in a collaboration with the Japanese baseball team Chiba Lotte Marine. The opening ceremony will be announced by three voice actors: Takuya Eguchi, Saori Hayami, and Nao Toyama, and various peripheral products will also be sold in the stadium!

Since "Oregairu" is a very popular work, it should be able to attract fans to the stadium to watch the game, right? However, the situation on the scene was like this...

The voice actors of the service department participated in the opening ceremony

On June 11, Chiba Lotte Marines played against Chunichi Dragons at home. "Oregairu" cooperated with Lotte to launch special cheering sticks, towels and other necessary peripheral products for watching the game. With the presence of voice actors, it should be able to attract fans to watch the game! But judging from the number of people entering the stadium, "Oregairu" does not seem to be very attractive?

Number of attendees on the day of the event: 12,525

On the day of the "Oregirin" event, there were more than 12,000 people attending the event, but the day before...

Number of people attending the event the day before: 15,116

There are 3,000 fewer people than the day before!!!

Looking forward one day...

Number of attendees in the first two days of the event: 11,459

The number of people was about the same as on the day of the event. In fact, the average number of people attending the Rhodes team so far this year is more than 17,000 people. On the day of the event, it was even less than the average!!!

Average number of visitors this year: 17,210 (as of June 13)

Does this mean that fans would rather stay at home than go to the stadium to grab peripherals and watch voice actors?

Compare it with Lucky Star, which was a two-year collaboration with Saitama Seibu Lions:

In 2012 and 2013, Lucky Star collaborated with Seibu Shi to launch Lucky Star DAY.

At the first [Lucky Star DAY] in 2012, many otakus flocked to the venue holding "Lucky Star" cheering boards, but they were not cheering for the players, but slogans like [Soon release the second season]!

The 2012 Lucky Star DAY event was flooded with otakus

On June 24, 2012, more than 21,000 people flocked to the Seibu Lions' home game against the Orix Buffaloes, which was about the same as the average number of people entering the stadium in 2012...

【Lucky Star DAY】Number of visitors on that day: 21,707

Average number of visitors in 2012: 21,195

Is it really too difficult to attract otakus to go out by means of sports competitions?
