CATDOLL: The copyright infringement case of "High Score Girl" has been settled and is expected to be reopened and adapted into an animation

The animation of "High Score Girls" was announced in the 2014 vol.1 issue of the magazine "Monthly BIG GANGAN" (released on December 25, 2013). Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. On August 5, 2014, the Osaka Prefectural Police Economic Life Division searched the publishing company SQUARE ENIX for allegedly using characters from SNKP's "The King of Fighters" and "Samurai Shodown" without authorization, causing the animation to fail. Recently, the case finally came to a conclusion, and SQUARE ENIX and SNK reached a settlement, which means that "High Score Girls" is expected to continue serialization and animation.

"High Score Girls" is a manga created by manga artist Rensuke Oshikiri. The work is set during the 1990s fighting game boom, and is a love comedy about the encounter between the male protagonist "Yaguchi Haruo" and the female protagonist "Oono Akira" caused by the game "Street Fighter II" that triggered the boom. The work was first published in "Zoukan YOUNG GANGAN" No. 11, 2010 and "Zoukan YOUNG GANGAN BIG" (VOL.1 and VOL.3, 2011) published by Square Enix Publishing, and was later serialized in the manga magazine "Monthly BIG GANGAN" under the same company. This work not only won the "Bros Comic Award" in 2012, but also won the second place in the popularity of the boys' edition of "This Comic is Really Awesome!" in 2013.
