CATDOLL: "Your Name" ranked tenth among the top ten Japanese films at the Yokohama Film Festival, causing controversy

The 38th Yokohama Film Festival was held on February 5, 2017. On December 3, the organizers of the film festival first announced the list of the top ten Japanese local films of 2016. The recently popular "Your Name" only won the 10th place, which caused dissatisfaction among Japanese otakus. The first place went to the animated film "In This Corner of the World" directed by Sunao Katabuchi, and the live-action film "Shin Godzilla" won the 4th place.

Regarding this ranking, some people hotly discussed: "Isn't Your Name too low? Was this list bought with money? Where is the authority of the Yokohama Film Festival?" "I think this list is a paid list and has no credibility." "Although I don't think Your Name is that great, it can definitely be called a once-in-a-decade animation in Japan. It's an exaggeration to say that In This Corner of the World is a once-in-a-decade animation."

The Yokohama Film Festival is a local film festival independently organized by Japanese film lovers. It mainly rewards outstanding films and filmmakers who have made outstanding achievements in the field of film in Japan that year. It is hosted by the Yokohama Film Festival Executive Committee.
