Kizumonogatari is a light novel written by Japanese novelist Nisio Isin and illustrated by Taiwanese illustrator VOFAN (real name Dai Yuanheng). It is a prequel to the first work in the Monogatari series, Bakemonogatari, and tells the story of the protagonist Araragi Koyomi and a vampire. It has been confirmed that the work will be adapted into a theatrical version, and the director will be Akiyuki Shinbo. Although it was scheduled to be released as a theatrical version in 2012, it has not yet been realized.
