Shigeru Mizuki, a veteran Japanese cartoonist who created classic ghost comics such as "GeGeGe no Kitaro", "Devil-kun" and "My Daily Life", died of heart failure in a hospital in Tokyo at around 7 a.m. Japan time today (November 30). He was 93 years old. Mizuki Shigeru was born in Osaka. He showed great talent in painting since childhood. He held a solo oil painting exhibition at the age of 13 and was called a "genius boy" by local newspapers. After graduating from elementary school, he worked at a printing company in Osaka for two months at the age of 15, then resigned and entered an art school. Later, he lost his left hand in an air raid. At the age of 26, he began to create comic strips under the pen name "Mizuki Shigeru". At the age of 40, he began to serialize "GeGeGe no Kitaro" in "Weekly Shonen Magazine". This work was made into a TV animation after being serialized for 3 years and became a classic masterpiece known to every household in Japan. He was 93 years old when he was still serializing his autobiographical comic "My Daily Life". In May of this year, he suddenly announced the end of serialization. Many netizens were worried about whether there was something wrong with his health. Although the official explanation given at the time was "no creative inspiration", we still received this sad news today. |
