Watching live TV and recorded videos is still the mainstream, but many people have also started watching free animations online

In 2015, the scale of online broadcasting of animations has been increasing, but the main way for anime fans to watch animations is still on TV. In particular, the proportion of using Blu-ray players and DVD players to record animations accounts for 78.3%, which means that about 80% of people do so.

On the other hand, the proportion of watching TV live is 42.0%, so it can be said that watching the plot through TV is still the most common way for everyone. This is true for both men and women, and it has nothing to do with age.

At the same time, although the proportion is still not as high as that of watching on TV, the proportion of watching animation on the Internet is also increasing. The proportion of "free online broadcasting" alone has reached 48.4%, which means that nearly half of anime fans have watched free online animation. Currently, many online broadcasting organizations use the form of free first episode and free last episode to attract the attention of netizens.

However, there are still very few people who pay to watch online. For example, the form of "spending a fixed amount of money to watch countless animations" that caused a lot of discussion in 2015 is very eye-catching, but currently only 11.9% of netizens have chosen this form. And the number of people who pay according to the works is only 3.4%. However, considering the huge base of anime fans, this is already a very good market size, and there is still room for further development.

As for going to the cinema to watch the movie, it is still as popular as ever. The number of people who have watched the movie reached 35.0%, and there is not much difference between men and women. However, in terms of age, only 23.9% of people in their teens have been to the cinema, while 49.0% of people in their twenties and 47.9% of people in their thirties have been to the cinema. Of course, after all, young people have limited income, so it may be difficult for them to spend money to watch the movie.

The proportion of those who purchase Blu-ray/DVD is 44%, and the proportion increases with age.

So what about animation Blu-ray/DVD? According to the results, 43.7% of people bought discs in 2015. Considering that the price of discs is generally high, this is a rather surprising number. And compared with online payment, the proportion of buying discs is also higher. It can be seen that discs still occupy an important position in the animation industry. However, in terms of the purchase rate, the rate for those in their teens is 28%, the rate for those in their twenties is 48%, and the rate for those in their thirties is 58%. The older the age, the higher the purchase rate. Previously, many people believed that women are more active than men in buying discs, but through this survey, it was found that there is actually not much difference between men and women.

In addition, although most people choose to buy Blu-ray discs, DVDs still have about 10% of the market. It seems that the demand for DVDs will not disappear in the short term.
