CATDOLL: In my lifetime: A review of the never-ending comics. Togashi, is your waist healed?

Sometimes comics can't be completed because the author leaves or faces some bad things. This is not a good thing for both readers and authors. Although some works are not like this, from the perspective of long-term stagnation, there is only a feeling of "I don't know if it will be finished..." Today's "Comics That May Never Be Finished" is such a theme. In fact, this content is super easy to guess the works on the list...

"Ronin Swordsman" Takehiko Inoue

The story is adapted from Yoshikawa Eiji's novel "Miyamoto Musashi". It has been serialized in Kodansha's "Weekly Morning" magazine since 1998. The total circulation in Japan has exceeded 60 million copies by the 33rd volume. This work has won the 24th Kodansha Manga Award in the General Department in 2000, the 4th Agency for Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival Manga Department Award in 2000, and the 6th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award in 2002.

Hunter x Hunter - Yoshihiro Togashi

Speaking of Hunter x Hunter, I think everyone loves and hates it! I wonder if the author's back pain has healed now. Stop playing mahjong and start drawing!

The work has been serialized irregularly in the Japanese manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) since 1998. There are also peripheral media products such as a TV animation, theatrical version and video game adapted from the original work.

Some information about serialization/hiatus: On February 13, 2006 (JUMP No. 11), it was announced that it would be on hiatus until April after the 260th chapter, and then changed to an indefinite hiatus. On October 6, 2007 (JUMP No. 45), serialization resumed, and after the 270th chapter (December 1, 2007), it was on hiatus again. Then on March 3, 2008 (JUMP No. 14), serialization resumed. After the 280th chapter (May 2008), it was on hiatus again. On October 3, 2008, serialization resumed, and after the 290th chapter (December 1, 2008), it was on hiatus again. On January 4, 2010, Weekly Shonen Jump's New Year's combined issue No. 5-6 was resumed, and after the 310th chapter (May 2010), it was on hiatus again. In September 2011, it was announced that the series would continue, with the Chimera Ant arc officially ending in Chapter 318, and the official entry into the Guild President Election arc in Chapter 319 (October 5, 2011).

"Branded Warrior" Kentaro Miura

An adventure story about the contradiction between dreams and friendship, the conflict between trust and betrayal, and a series of unknown events that took place against the backdrop of the Dark Ages in medieval Europe.

"The Girl with a Thousand Faces" Miuchi Minai

Glass Mask is a manga by Japanese manga artist Suzue Miuchi. It is one of the longest-running works that has been serialized for more than 30 years, with several interruptions in the middle. In 2001, it was continued in the monthly Glass Mask, a special supplement to Hana to Yume. As of October 2012, Glass Mask has been published in 49 volumes in Japan and is still being serialized.

"Shima Kosaku" Hirokane Kenji

Shima Kosaku is a fictional character in the famous comic book series by Kenji Hirokane. This series tells the story of Shima Kosaku's decades of hard work in a Japanese company - from section chief to department manager to director, he experienced ups and downs, honors and disgraces...

Detective Conan: Gosho Aoyama

"Detective Conan" is a detective animation work of the same name adapted from the detective comic "Detective Conan" created by Japanese cartoonist Gosho Aoyama. Produced by V1 Studio, it began to be broadcast on Yomiuri TV in Japan on January 8, 1996 and is still being broadcast today.

However, according to the author, the work will not exceed 100 volumes. Assuming that each volume has about 11 chapters, the work will be completed in 1100-1200 chapters. But judging from the current 948 chapters, it will be possible to perfectly fill in the existing holes on Conan's side and use the remaining 100 chapters as the main storyline. Taking the previous collision between red and black (585-609) as an example, it took almost two and a half volumes to complete; so it is not impossible to tell the next main storyline in 100 chapters.

"The First Divine Fist" by Morikawa Joji

It has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine since 1989. It is a youth manga by Japanese manga artist Morikawa Joji. The original Japanese name is "はじめの一歩", which means the first step of something.

The bullied boy Makunouchi Ichiho meets Mamoru Takamura, who later becomes a world champion, and begins his boxing life. This work focuses on the process of entering the Kamogawa Hall and gradually becoming a representative of Japan. The characteristic is that the battles between companions and opponents are carefully described. It has become a long-running work and is one of the flagship manga of "Weekly Shonen Magazine" in the Heisei era. Each episode is separated by a continuous number of "Round.○○", and it is also recorded in the fan book as "R109" or the like.
