The biggest dream of many cartoonists is to work in Shonen Jump one day. Now this wish can finally come true! The Shonen Jump Cartoon Competition, which has already opened, will attract more talented cartoonists to enter the professional market.
The comic submission website "Shonen Jump ROOKIE" is operated by the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department and has announced the holding of the 2nd "Shonen Jump + Serial Grand Prix" comic competition. The submission of entries will begin today and is expected to close on August 31. The purpose of holding this competition is that JUMP hopes to discover more amateur comic artists to enter the professional market. In addition to being able to submit works through Shonen Jump Roogie, this comics competition will also cooperate with the illustration website Pixiv and open another wave of submission activities. Readers who want to participate can choose the platform they are familiar with.
The awards of the competition will be divided into two categories: "Champion" and "Special Award". The number of winning works is not limited to one comic. Multiple works may be included in the list as long as the judges decide. In terms of the review system, the official has confirmed that a four-round review will be used for the review. The first wave will be voted on by readers of Shonen JUMP ROOKIE and Pixiv, and the pass rate will be set at about 50%. The second stage will be handed over to the JUMP editorial department to select the first wave of 10 candidates, and then the final 5 works will be selected through the third stage of reader voting, and finally handed over to the editor-in-chief and deputy editor-in-chief of Weekly Shonen JUMP for core review. Shonen JUMP hopes to use this review system that combines two reader votes to select a new generation of comics that is closer to readers' appreciation.
