CATDOLL: 2015 domestic animation masterpieces announced: "The Return of the Great Sage" won the first prize

The review results of the 2015 special fund project for the development of domestic animation were announced in Hangzhou on April 28. "The Monkey King: Hero is Back" won the first prize for outstanding animated film. This is also the first time that the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television has released the annual domestic animation masterpieces at the China International Cartoon and Animation Festival.

"The Monkey King: Hero is Back" set a box office record of 950 million yuan for domestic animated films in 2015, and won the "Best Animated Film Award" at the 30th China Golden Rooster Awards in September of the same year. At the 23rd Beijing University Student Film Festival held in April this year, it was named "Chinese Animation Art Classics of the Ninety Years" along with "Havoc in Heaven" and "Little Tadpole Looking for Mom".

In this regard, Liu Zhijiang, producer of "The Monkey King: Hero is Back" and general manager of Hengdian Film and Television Production Co., Ltd., said that the success of "The Monkey King: Hero is Back" is a call from the Chinese film market, moviegoers and filmmakers, and a success of domestic animation. He also said that domestic animation should absorb the nutrition of predecessors and have unique feelings, and inheriting national traditional culture must stick to the bottom line and endure loneliness.

"Journey to the West: Hero is Back" tells a story of love and courage, in which a brave child awakens the heroic spirit of an adult. The Monkey King is no longer the invincible Monkey King, but also has many shadows of a father.

The special fund for the development of domestic animation was established by the former State Administration of Radio, Film and Television in 2005. It aims to support and promote the prosperity and development of the domestic animation industry, reward domestic animation masterpieces and creators each year, and encourage animation production organizations, professional colleges and creators to actively participate in the creation of domestic animation masterpieces.
