Shueisha, a well-known Japanese publishing house, will celebrate its 90th anniversary this year. As part of the commemorative plan, Shueisha will gather its signature cartoonists to redraw the cover for the fourth edition of the historical book "Learning Japanese History through Comics" and will release the entire set on October 28. Shueisha, a well-known Japanese publishing house founded in August 1926, has done well in many book fields in addition to its most famous "JUMP!" comics. "Learning Japanese History through Comics" is a history book published by Shueisha, with a total of 20 volumes. The book uses comics to present all the basic historical knowledge of Japan from the mythological era to the present. The cumulative sales have reached 15 million copies and it has been reprinted many times. The 4th edition will be released this autumn. For this reprint, Shueisha invited well-known cartoonists from various fields to redraw the covers for this series of books. The complete list of cartoonists has been announced, including Masashi Kishimoto of "Naruto", Hirohiko Araki of "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure", Kubo Tite of "Bleach", Karuho Shiina of "I Want to Tell You", Hiroyuki Asada of "Letter Bee", Daisuke Higuchi of "When the Whistle Blows", Yasuhisa Hara of "Kingdom", Sui Ishida of "Tokyo Ghoul", Ryu Fujisaki of "Romance of the Gods", Nobuhiro Watsuki of "Rurouni Kenshin", Akiko Higashimura of "Doodle Diary", Norika Murakami of "JIN-Jin-", Kazune Kawahara of "My Story", Masanori Morita of "ROOKIES", and Io Sakisaka of "Age of Youth". There are a total of 15 cartoonists, all of whom are the authors of Shueisha's signature works. The series of books will be released on October 28, 2016. The price of a single book is 1,000 yen (about 66 yuan) excluding tax, and the price of the whole set is 18,000 yen (about 1,188 yuan) excluding tax. |
