CATDOLL: Interview with the producer of "Innocence and Lightning" about the wonderful healing of Loli and food

The most healing of this season's new series is "Innocence and Lightning", which is a wonderful combination of loli and food to melt your heart. In this regard, Japanese media interviewed its producer Suzuki Tsuneyasu to learn more about the charm of the work from him.

Q: Could you please introduce the plot and charm of the work?

A: The protagonist, Kohei Inuzuka, is a high school teacher whose wife passed away. He has a daughter named Tsumugi. There is also a high school girl named Kotori, and the three of them make delicious food in every episode. The plot of this work is so simple. The original work has been published in 7 volumes, and the cumulative circulation has reached more than 1.5 million copies, which is a popular work. When it comes to the charm of the work, there are probably three points. Tsumugi's cuteness and the world view that unfolds around her. In addition, there is the delicate work of the production staff headed by director Taro Iwasaki and the voice actors.

Q: So what do you pay attention to when making animations?

A: In short, don't be vulgar, don't be too targeted! As we all know, animation is the result of the joint efforts of many people, so some commercial factors must be considered. But if everyone listens to other people's opinions, they will definitely be confused, and as a result, they will force some exaggerated changes to the characters. This is what we want to avoid. The production team attaches great importance to quality and hopes to show the charm of the original work in the animation with a high degree of purity. In addition, regarding Tsumugi's performance, we will not pursue logic too much. If we create it completely from the perspective of adults, then we will lose the innocence and naturalness of children. This is something we have always paid attention to.

Q: So when you were creating, what made you happy? On the contrary, what were the difficulties?

A: As everyone knows, this is an animation with cooking as its theme. But our production staff are often people who can't cook at all, and I am one of them. My hands will tremble even when I beat an egg. And because the main characters in this work are not good at cooking, we also resonate with the characters. In fact, this time the production staff made all the dishes that appeared in the work by themselves, and let people who can't cook do it. Then we used a camera to capture the production process for reference. If people who cook often usually find that the action of cutting things fairly is very dangerous. This point is also delicately restored in the work.

Q: Please talk about the future highlights of the work.

A: What is particularly noteworthy this time is the growth of the father and daughter. Not only the improvement of cooking skills, but also the internal correlation. Although each episode looks the same, they grow up little by little without realizing it. In addition, such growth and change are not only reflected in the plot. Mr. Nakamura Yuichi, who voiced Koubei, and little sister Endo Rina, who voiced Tsumugi, look like a family as the number of dubbing increases.
