Kazuhiro Fujita was born in Hokkaido in 1964. He was an assistant to Yoshito Asari and later made his debut with a work published in Weekly Shonen Sunday. He has written classic works such as long-length comics "Tide and Tiger", "Magic Circus", and "Moonlight Ordinance", and is a well-deserved leader in shōnen comics. Although Mr. Fujita's style is bold and his lines are rough, the plot arrangement is very delicate and worth pondering, and the stories he depicts always touch people's hearts inadvertently. The foreshadowing buried in the comics is even more magnificent after unfolding, which fully demonstrates his unique charm of narrative. Whether it is a long comic or a short comic, it all shows his outstanding attainments. "Black Museum Spring-Heeled Jack" is a short comic based on urban legends. It was serialized by Fujita Kazuhiro in "Morning" from May 24 to June 28, 2007. Through delicate narration, it reproduces London in the early Victorian period in the 19th century. At that time, the economic growth caused by the industrial revolution was in its early stages. The increase in cheap imported vegetables and grains impacted the livelihood of farmers. In order to make ends meet, people from Ireland or Scotland poured into the city, causing a population explosion. At that time, London's urban system was not yet sound. Horse-drawn carriages traveled on the unpaved roads full of flying sand. The city center was full of factories and workers' houses, and the city was very lively. On the other hand, vagrants and criminals gathered in the industrial and commercial areas. Quarrels caused by drinking cheap gin, as well as murders and robberies caused by money were often heard. Since the lighting relied on candles and oil lamps, the city was pitch black after dark. Of course, there were no street lights, and the public security was quite dangerous. Women could not go out at night. In the suburbs, there were also robbers on horseback who robbed pedestrians on the road. "Spring-Heeled Jack" is an urban legend that spread during this period. On a moonlit night, he put his hands on his waist, puffed blue-white smoke from his mouth, laughed loudly, grabbed his cloak, jumped, and disappeared into the darkness. The locals were left with many rumors and fears that the murderer who made women scream in fear had returned. After 7 years, "Black Museum Ghost and the Lady" is about to start a new serialization in the comic magazine "morning". What kind of strange story will happen this time? We look forward to Fujita Kazuhiro bringing us new visual and sensory impact! |
