CATDOLL: If you only read the comics of the working class, you are out! 2014 Professional Recommended Comics List

The February issue of ENTERMIX, a comprehensive entertainment magazine published by Kadokawa Bookstore, published a list of "2014's most worth-read comics" selected by the editorial department and staff from 3,000 bookstores across Japan. If you are worried about not having good comics to read, I believe this list can provide you with valuable reference from the perspective of professionals.

No. 1: Suzuki Osamu: The Seven Deadly Sins (Kodansha)

The story mainly takes place in the country "Lionness Kingdom" on the fictional continent "Britalia". The kingdom's paladins are strengthening their armaments in preparation for the legendary holy war. However, the many atrocities of the Paladins have made the entire country miserable, and even launched a coup and imprisoned the king. The third princess "Elizabeth", who is worried about the current situation of the country, puts her hope of saving the country on the knights "Seven Deadly Sins" who were wanted ten years ago for suspected subversion of the kingdom, and embarks on a journey of searching alone. In the journey destined to be fruitless, the exhausted Elizabeth mistakenly enters a hotel and is rescued by the owner of the hotel, a blond boy, who is the leader of the "Seven Deadly Sins", Meliodas. After rescuing the princess from the crisis of the pursuers, they embark on a journey to save the future of the country.

No. 2 Horikoshi Kohei "My Hero Academia" (Shueisha)

Various superpowers are discovered in the world one after another, and the reasons are unknown. As time goes by, "fantasy" becomes "daily" and "fantasy" becomes reality. In today's superhuman society where nearly 80% of the world's total population has some special physique, a profession that everyone could only dream of in the past has entered the stage of history, that is, heroes. Izuku Midoriya, a boy without any power, but longs to be a hero.

No. 3: Haruichi Furudate, "Haikyuu!!" (Shueisha)

When he was a child, Hinata Shoyo saw a volleyball match on TV. A small player from Karasuno High School was so impressive on the ball that he looked like a "little giant". He was deeply impressed and became fascinated with volleyball. He always wanted to be like a "little giant". 4. Oima Yoshitoki: A Silent Voice (Kodansha)

"A Silent Voice" is a short story created by Yoshitoki Ohima. The work was selected for the 80th Weekly Shonen Magazine Newcomer Manga Award in 2008, but because it was based on the theme of "society's revenge against the hearing-impaired", it was postponed for publication. The editor of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine stated that he wanted to read and publish this work, and negotiated with the All Japan Deaf Federation many times. Later, in February 2011, the short story was finally published in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine. Because it involves profound contemporary real-life issues such as the disabled community and school bullying, the short story received a great response after it was published. After receiving unanimous praise from readers and editors, this work was officially serialized based on the short story and began to be published in Weekly Shonen Magazine No. 12, which was released on February 20.

No. 5: Yuu Suzunoki, "Obstetrician and Gynecologist" (Kodansha)

The legendary pianist "BABY" is known only for his experience growing up in an orphanage. Some nights he would play for more than two hours, and after only 10 minutes he would stand up from his chair and play intensely. Some nights he would disappear from the stage...but his real identity is an obstetrician named Sakura Kotori. He embarked on this path because of his past experiences.

High school girl Chiyo Sakura finally mustered up the courage to confess to Umetaro Nozaki, who was in the same grade, but what she got was Nozaki's autograph and an invitation to "Would you like to come to my house?" Writing and Drawing is an autobiographical work by Teacher Higashimura. She has been in the classroom of her mentor, Mr. Hidaka Kenzo, for eight years. Drawing, taking exams, and studying day after day filled her life. But it is precisely these years of hard work that made her a truly popular cartoonist. She is surprised. In fact, Mitsumasa has some special abilities! And Mitsumasa's sister and brother actually have that ability too. This is an incredible love comedy comic created by the popular writer Morimoto Koko.

No. 10: "The Street Where Only I Am Missing" by Sanbu Kei (KADOKAWA)

The story is about a third-rate cartoonist named Fujinuma Satoru who has a power called "Replay" (Replay: Whenever something horrible happens around him, he will try to stop the event from happening at a point in time before the event, and if he fails, he will go back to that point in time). When he returns home one day and finds that his mother has been murdered, and he is framed as the murderer, a replay occurs, and this time he goes back to 18 years ago. He is only in the fifth grade of elementary school, and this time he has to save not only his mother who will die 18 years later, but also his classmates who were murdered at that time...
