"Udon Police Station", which is known as "Japan's longest-running manga", was announced to be completed in September last year. Its author Akimoto Osamu recently released his new work after a short break. The theme of this work is the daily fun of female high school students in Kyoto. According to the introduction, Akimoto Osamu's new manga is called "Finder-Kyoto Girls' Academy Story-", which will be officially published in the latest issue of "Young Jump" released today (February 2). This work is the second installment of Akimoto's new series, which tells the daily life of female high school students living in Kameoka, a suburb of Kyoto. The second episode will be released in early summer.
In an interview with Mr. Akimoto, he revealed more details about this new work. When asked why he chose Kyoto as the setting for the manga, Mr. Akimoto said that he likes the works of Kyoto Animation very much, especially the recently aired second season of Sound! Euphonium, which made him have a strong feeling for Uji in Kyoto. With the idea of "wanting to depict this feeling", he began to use Kameoka, another famous place in Kyoto, as the setting, and put the idea he had two years ago on paper. When asked why he still wanted to create high school girl comics at such an old age (Akimoto was born in 1952), Akimoto Osamu said that he was influenced by K-ON!, another work of Kyoto Animation. K-ON! shows the ordinary, simple, warm and touching daily club life of cute high school girls, which gave Akimoto a lot of inspiration and made him completely change the funny style of Udon Police Station, depicting the unique pure style of girls' comics and the changes of the four seasons in Kyoto. |
