"The Tale of Princess Kaguya" is adapted from the famous Japanese story "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter". It tells the story of "A bamboo cutter discovered a god-like little princess while working hard. The little princess grew up to be a beautiful young lady in just three months, attracting countless marriage proposals from noble men, but all the proposals failed..." It focuses on depicting Kaguya's unknown inner feelings and the changes in her own destiny. The Tale of Princess Kaguya is directed by Ghibli director Isao Takahata. With the artistry of hand-drawn painting, it has been highly praised by animation critics around the world. So far, the work has won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award (Animated Film Category), the Boston Film Critics Association Award (Animated Film Category), and the Toronto Film Critics Association Award (Animated Film Category). It is the first work of director Isao Takahata since My Neighbors the Yamadas in 1997 in 14 years.
