CATDOLL: Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs opens anime and game information database website

On Tuesday, the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs launched a website called "Media Arts Database". The website is used to collect information about Japanese comics, animation, games, and media art works. Currently, the website is only available in Japanese. For friends who know Japanese, this is a great place to search for information.

The website currently has about 250,000 manga books and 80,000 manga magazines from the Meiji period to January 2015. In terms of animation, it includes 9,000 works from 1917 to 2014, including TV animation, theatrical animation, and OVA. In terms of games, it includes 35,000 games. These games include game console works released before September 2014, arcade games released between 1972 and 2013, and computer games. In terms of media art, it includes about 10,000 works of media art, contemporary art-related exhibitions, and live events from 1951 to 2014.
