CATDOLL: Animated film "Rock and Roll Tibetan Mastiff" debuts at Cannes Film Festival, first trailer released

The 3D animated film "Rock the Mastiff", invested by China and created by a professional Hollywood team, officially debuted at the 68th Cannes International Film Festival on May 17, local time in France. The film was created by Ash Brannon, the director and screenwriter of "Toy Story 2" over many years. It is the first phenomenal animated blockbuster invested by China, using Chinese IP, and created by a professional Hollywood team.

The first trailer of the 3D animated film "Rock Mastiff":

"Rock and Roll Tibetan Mastiff" is adapted from the popular comic book of the same name by the famous rock singer Zheng Jun. It tells the inspirational story of the big-eyed Tibetan mastiff Bodi who left his hometown to pursue his musical dream and freedom. As a very important work for Huayi Brothers Media to enter the international market, "Rock and Roll Tibetan Mastiff" not only appeared on the cover of the Cannes program of "The Hollywood Reporter", but also released the first international poster. In it, the protagonist Bodi, a Tibetan mastiff, with a guitar on his back, stands on a high mountain and looks at the bustling metropolis in the distance, full of momentum.

A phenomenal animated blockbuster like "Rock Mastiff" that is invested by China, uses Chinese IP, and is created by a professional Hollywood team is the first in the Chinese film market, and has attracted the attention and curiosity of many domestic and foreign media. The film company released a two-minute international trailer for the first time, featuring a series of cute characters, including the warm and inspiring protagonist Bodi the Tibetan Mastiff and the British rock-style cat Angers.

Wang Zhonglei, one of the producers of "Rock and Roll Tibetan Mastiff" and the executive president of Huayi Brothers Media Group, said in an interview with media from various countries: The core of animated films is family, and its culture and emotions are universal. Compared with live-action films, animated films have become an easier solution for the internationalization of Chinese films, so the goal of "Rock and Roll Tibetan Mastiff" from the beginning was to focus on the global market. Huayi hopes to do a good job in IP extension, propose a full range of derivative products, movie theme parks and other plans, and develop a new model of Chinese investment + Chinese IP + Hollywood production team, so that Chinese cartoons can be expressed in a different way.

The film also has a strong voice cast. The voice of the Tibetan mastiff Purdy is provided by the famous American comedy actor Luke Wilson; J.K. Simmons, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Whiplash, interprets Purdy's father who loves his son but is strict and upright; and the famous British actor Eddie Izzard voices the British rock star cat Angers. Other actors who have joined the voice cast include Lewis Black, Kenan Thompson, Mae Whitman, Jorge Garcia, Matt Dillon, Sam Elliott, etc.
