CATDOLL: The Love Live! movie set new sales records and became the box office champion of Shochiku

The first animated theatrical version of the popular idol project Love Live!, Love Live! The School Idol Movie, has set new box office records since its release in Japan on June 13. According to the latest official news released by Japan today (September 8), 86 days after its release, the box office revenue of this film has exceeded 2.55 billion yen (about 136 million yuan).

This achievement beat many animated works released before this: such as "Blood Road" with a box office of 2.47 billion yen (about 132 million yuan) in 2014, "Brother" with a box office of 2.1 billion yen (about 112 million yuan) in 2010, and "K-ON! The Movie" with a box office of 1.9 billion yen (about 102 million yuan) in 2012, becoming the highest-grossing work released by Shochiku Animation Film Company after 2010, and ranked 7th in the Japanese movie box office revenue in the first half of 2015. At the same time, since this work is still in theaters, its ranking may continue to rise.

Love Live! tells the inspiring story of nine female students who formed an idol group to save their alma mater, Otonokizaka Academy, which was facing the crisis of closing down. The TV animation was broadcast in January 2013 and became very popular. The second season began to be broadcast in April 2014. The voice actors who appeared in the show include Emi Nitta, Aino Nanjo, Aya Uchida, Suzuko Mimori, Riho Iida, Pile, Ai Na Kusuda, Yurika Kubo, Aozora Tokui, etc.
